Lenexa BBQ!

Belated birthday celebration with the dad and step mom at the Lenexa BBQ. So far it's relatively calm, but for sure it will get NUTS as the night progresses and people continue to consume alcoholic beverages and spicy food. We are relaxing at a friend's booth; "All Fired Up" and the food is fantastic. Chefs Mark and Sarah Garrett are not only wonderful hosts but fantastic cooks. Among the usual deviled eggs and delicious baked beans, the Garretts have prepared an ample selection of barbecued meats for their friends to enjoy: Pork with rum marinade, pork with pineapple salsa stuffing, home made sausage stuffed with cheddar, barbecue chicken, pulled barbecue pork, and barbecue wings in both hot and mild flavors. Brought by one of the friends is an apple pie with home canned apples. I have not tried this yet because I am still stuffed from the smorgasbord of meats. I also just had a conversation with my dad and step mom about what pot smells like. Can you say awkward? Will update this after I get home and can report on that pie...



Edit: Well the pie turned out to be more of an apple-cinnamon oatmeal crisp type thing, and it was indeed quite fantastic.
